Oakvillegreen Conservation Association (OCA) is strongly opposed to the proposed development of the Glen Abbey Golf Course (Glen Abbey GC), in Oakville, Ontario.
For the past 20+ years, our organization has advocated successfully to ensure the Town of Oakville (Town), the local school boards and private developers adhere to both the law and spirit of the law to protect Oakville’s natural spaces. We were a key stakeholder in ensuring the creation of the 990 acre Glenorchy Conservation Area in 2008; protected lands distinguished by the Sixteen Mile Creek gorge, forested slopes, headwater creeks, wetlands and shale bluffs. Glenorchy is just upstream Glen Abbey GC, which shares the same unique geological features. https://conservationhalton.ca/glenorchy-restoration Glenorchy became part of Oakville’s Natural Heritage System (NHS) within the official plan for North Oakville.
With this long and active participation, we believe that we have a vested interest in the specific application in front of you.
