Save Glen Abbey – Spring Update

Investing to Save Glen Abbey

You may have read that the investment the Town is making in legal services to save Glen Abbey now totals over $9 million.  What’s at stake is whether a Town has the right to issue an official plan that is enforceable.  If not, then the developers are in the driver’s seat when it comes to private lands.  If there was ever a fight worth fighting it’s this one.  If Glen Abbey is to be saved, we need to be steadfast in our support of the Town’s efforts.

Save Glen Abbey Trivia Night

Want to have some fun with neighbours, and learn more about the historic Glen Abbey Golf Course?  Join us on Thursday April 4 at Peppino’s (corner of 3rd Line and Kingsridge) for a night of Trivia, led by Steve Morrison who runs the regular trivia night at Peppino’s.  The trivia starts at 8 so you’ll want to arrive well before to get a good seat.

Regional Government Review

As we mentioned last month, the Ontario Government is conducting a review of Regional Governments.  One possible outcome is the forced amalgamation of the Towns of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills into a new “City of Halton”.  No more Oakville Council to fight for our needs and rights! Instead only a Regional Council where the majority of people deciding our fate do not live here and cannot truly represent our unique needs.

The public consultation period is now underway.  Please make your voice heard by filling in the government survey.

(Be patient, sometimes the survey doesn’t work the first time if you’re completing it using your mobile phone.)
